| The Main Angels of Islam
Angels are believed to be Allah's first creation. Unlike humans they do not possess free will and cannot go against the will of Allah. According to quotations from the Qur'an it would seem that angels are male but they are not human.
The angels all perform different jobs on behalf of Allah and the main ones are as follows:
Jibrail- This is the chief angel and is Allah's messenger. Gabiel -Jibrail - sends messages from Allah to humans. He was an intermediary between Allah and Muhammad and also told Maryam she was expecting her son Isa - Jesus -. You may recognise Jibrail as Gabriel from Christianity.
Jibreel (جبريل Gabriel) is the angel who first appeared to Muhammad in the cave of Hijra - Hirra Cave - and taught Muhammad the Qur'an.
Allah Informs about Gabriel in the Holy Quran : "Say: Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel - for he brings down the (revelation) to your heart by Allah’s will, a confirmation of what went before, and guidance and glad tidings to those who believe - Whoever is an enemy to Allah, and His angels and prophets, to Jibreel and Mikaa’eel - Lo! Allah is an enemy to those who reject Faith." [al-Baqarah 2:97-98]
The Messenger of Allah said, describing Jibreel: "I saw Jibreel descending from heaven, and his great size filled the space between heaven and earth." (Reported by Muslim, no. 177). ........................
Mikail-He is the Keeper of Hell, as Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): "They [the people in Hell] will cry: ‘O Malik! Would that your Lord put an end to us!’..." [al-Zukhruf 43:77]
Malik is in charge of maintaining Jahannam (hell) and carrying out God's command to punish the people in hell. He supervises 19 other angels who also guard hell and punish its inhabitants. Allah Informs in the Holy Quran about Hell Angels : "And what can make you know what is Saqar? It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], Blackening the skins.Over it (Hell) are nineteen (angels as guardians)" (74:27-30) ..........................
Israfil- Israfil is in charge of the Last Day when humanity will be judged by Allah. He blows the trumpet that signals the end of the world. Israfil or Israafiyl (Judeo-Christian, Raphael), is an archangel - in Islam - who will blow the trumpet twice at the end of time. According to the hadith, Israfil is the angel responsible for signaling the coming of Qiyamah (Judgment Day) by blowing a horn. The blowing of the trumpet is described in many places in the Quran. It is said that the first blow will bring all to attention, will end all life, while the second blow will bring all human beings back to life again to meet their Lord for their final judgement.
Allah Says : " Then when the Horn is blown with one blast. And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow -.Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur," ( 69:13-15 )
Allah Informs about the second blow : " And the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on." ( 39 : 68 )
Allah Informs about the second blow :" And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten." ( Yasin 36:51)

Izrail- Izrail (عزرائيل) or Azra'eil (عزرایل) . Also spelled Izrail, Azrin, Izrael, Azriel, Azrail, Ezraeil, Azraille, Azryel, Ozryel, or Azraa-eel,, is the angel that takes a person's breath when they die The angel of death, who separates each person’s soul from his or body at the moment of death. Islamic tradition says that archangel Azrael is the angel of death, although in the Qur’an, he is referred to by his role ("Malak al-Maut," which literally means "angel of death") rather than by his name: "The Angel of Death who is charged with taking your souls will take your souls; then you will be returned to your Lord." (As-Sajdah 32:11).
