| Zainab bint Khuzaymah (RA)
She was born in 598 AD and grew up to be the champion of the downtrodden and the poor. She became known as the mother of the poor.
She was married to Abdullaah bint Jahsh who was martyred in the Battle if Uhud. She now faced a life of loneliness and also had children to take care of. Yet she never complained to anyone. She placed her trust in Allaah and was rewarded with a proposal of marriage from His messenger. She received a dowry four hundred dirhams and was given an apartment close to Hafsah and Aishah. These two welcomed her to the household of the Prophet, which is unusual among rival wives. However, Allaah declares in the Quraan: “Oh wives of the Prophet, you are not like any other women.”
Zainab passed away eight months later at the young age of 30 and was buried in Jannatul Baqi. Her abode is Jannah as Allaah had told the Prophet:”Allaah has commanded you to marry only with the women of Paradise.” | |
